Meshlock / Tools in action

Five fixes, shown as they run.

Each one is a real tool, built around an existing ERP and tested on real production data. First the job by hand, then the same job with the tool. Parts, orders and machines on screen are illustrative. The results are real, rounded.

Around your ERP

Built around your ERP, not instead of it.

Job orders and picking orders came off the ERP in one unsorted pile, with no courier and no picture of the part. Tools built around it now sort and group the job orders, stamp the courier, print a preview of the part and put picking orders in route order. The ERP provider's own consultants couldn't match it.

Around the ERP

Job orders, sorted in a minute

1 h → 1 min

Challenge

About 80 sheets for 60 job orders came off the ERP as one mixed print. Someone spent about an hour a day sorting them, clipping multi-page orders together and writing on the courier.

Approach

A tool that sorts the sheets, groups multi-page orders, adds a separator with the sheet count, stamps the courier and prints a preview of the part. It also collects the order data and drafts a short message for the shift team with the day's priorities.

Outcome

About an hour of daily sorting now takes about a minute.

Around the ERP

Picking routes

+40% picking rate

Challenge

The ERP printed picking orders as one pile, in print order, and pickers walked the warehouse back and forth. At peak, someone filtered and reprinted them by hand, aisle by aisle or by value: up to 12 hours a week.

Approach

One pile goes in. The tool sorts it the way you choose, by priority, value or size, maps every order to its location in the warehouse and puts them in route order. One loop instead of back and forth.

Outcome

Picking rate up by about 40%. The filtering and reprinting by hand stopped.

Quality & error-proofing

Cut file check: a digital quality gate

Up to 10% of machine capacity freed

Challenge

New designs went to the machine to find out if they were right. Test cut, count the parts by hand, find the error, bin the sheet, fix it, repeat. About an hour on every new design.

Approach

A digital quality gate, built from scratch. Every file is checked on screen before the first cut: orientation, position, gaps in cut paths, processing settings, part count against the paperwork and part ID. Each issue is marked on the drawing and fixed in the file before it reaches a machine.

Outcome

Errors caught on screen, not in the bin. About an hour saved on every new design, and up to 10% of machine capacity freed.

Data & reporting

Machine data: downtime you can see

80% → 91%

Challenge

The machines ran all day and nobody knew how well. Every stop was in the logs, but nobody could see it. Daily performance was a guess.

Approach

Machine logs pulled automatically, with every start and stop tracked to the second and shown per machine. With the downtime visible, the causes were found, the process changed and operators were trained on the real data.

Outcome

Average machine performance up from 80% on the first measured day to 91%. Same machines, same people.

Automation

Batch export

0 files opened by hand

Challenge

Design files were opened and exported to PDF one at a time. Open, export, pick the preset, name it, save, close, next. One wrong click meant one bad PDF.

Approach

A small Adobe script. Pick the folders, set the preset once and press Run. Every file is exported with the same settings and listed in a log.

Outcome

Whole folders exported while you do something else. No skipped files, no wrong presets.

Closing the traceability gap

Challenge

No structured way to trace quality issues to their source. Recurring problems kept resurfacing.

Approach

Structured DMAIC project: root-caused across process and communication behaviour, ran targeted interventions.

Outcome

Significant, sustained improvement in traceability compliance, verified with real data.

Verified

Fleet-wide file distribution & audit

Challenge

Auditing files across a multi-machine fleet was manual, slow, and at scale, impractical to run at all.

Approach

Automated distribution on a fixed schedule with a full, timestamped audit trail. Zero manual steps.

Outcome

A process that was previously impractical to run now takes about half an hour, fully traceable.

Verified

Standardising machine files

Challenge

Every new product range needed hours of manual file preparation before anything could run.

Approach

Replaced one-off files with a standard set and built-in alignment checks.

Outcome

The prep step disappeared completely. Time to test a new range down 93%.
